The Nottingham Emmanuel School
The Nottingham Emmanuel School
Here at Emmanuel the whole of Year 8 have taken part in the School Report project, studying fact and opinion and how writers structure news reports so that they are unbiased and informative. We analysed existing news reports and then wrote our own web based news reports on a matter that we felt was important and relevant to people our age. We also made small news programmes: researching the news and scripting our broadcasts. We performed them in the classroom with other groups acting as cameramen and directors. Some classes even used the green screen and the sound boom to make it extra realistic! Two winning groups were picked from the year group for their hard work and professionalism to travel to the E-Learning centre to take part in the actual school news day. Two other groups worked hard within the school at lunchtimes to create features on issues that were important to other Year 8s using their investigative journalism skills! They created two features on why we aren't allowed to wear black cardigans in school and why mobile phones are not allowed in lessons; these reports will be edited in to our final show on the day.
